Keep Fighting

Love can come in many packages, ways, shapes, and forms
Sober or drunk
Through a higher power
Through airborne passage

It's something you can't fathom
When it really means something
It's something you can't always physically show
But it's definitely there

An indescribable feeling
Coming from someone who's felt a world of pain
No one hopes you feel this…

Heaven or hell is right there
In a circle of people who should all be best friends
The eldest will admonish you
KEEP FIGHTING
Don't let hell follow you
Don't let hell consume you

Certain people who shall not be named
With the kindness of the devil
Can take their reign of fire to hell
You are stronger than that
A true and passionate leader
Knows how to stand up for adversity
Knows how to hold her ground
Knows how to be the best, the strongest, the happiest, the sweetest
With the only thing she asks for is respect and love

Counting all the assholes in the room
You are not one of them
You are better than that
The strength of angels will consume you
The devil will perish
You will prevail
Your heart will triumph over adversity
You will win and go far
Haters gonna hate
Don't let it bring you down
Ever

There is a happily after waiting for you
Go catch it with your heart and a letter
Do more than the eldest has done
Do more than the rest have done
Accomplish more than you can fathom
Strive to climb a skyscraper with your actions

Know that you will never fall
Even though the top is a long and difficult climb
You will get there
As long as your heart follows you!
Keep fighting!

Thoughts of Adam Gontier's Departure of Three Days Grace

Adam Gontier departing say whaaaaaa?

He's apparently "ill". Whether or not that's true, Three Days Grace will never be the same. Everyone else thinks so and I will definitely don't need to jump on the bandwagon to feel this way. He has always been there, even when prior to the conversion to Three Days Grace (note: they were called "Groundswell" prior to being named Three Days Grace"). It was definitely a shock to me and many other fans alike, especially because they are going on their Transit of Venus tour.

Adam Gontier definitely has a very pure sounding voice that I've been in love with for years. From his gig with Apocalyptica to seeing him with Three Days Grace in 2010 at Q101 Jamboree in Chicago, they have always been a blast. Out of the many bands I've seen live, they were one of my absolute favorites.

In my opinion, if he really is sick, then he shouldn't just "peace out" like that. The band was very successful, despite their new album sounding like crap. I've always been a fan of their older stuff, with their self titled and One-X being my favorites. The lyrics of Three Days Grace have always been relatable, not always about breaking up with your boyfriend. They have been around since the early 1990s. I have a feeling they could have turned into the modern Metallica (minus the guitar riffs) in terms of their success. Why leave something that's doing so well? That's for him to know and the public to probably never find out.

The lead singer of My Darkest Days will be taking over for Adam, at least on the tour as the lead vocalist. Since Three Days Grace is vocal predominant band (where the main emphasis is on the vocals), they unfortunately made a HUGE 180. I fortunately am a My Darkest Days fan to an extent, but opening for Nickelback definitely takes some credibility away from them. Yes, I am a Nickelback hater. Unfortunately, his voice is NOTHING in comparison to Adam. Adam has more of an open and full sounding voice, as compared to My Darkest Days, whose songs are more sensual sounding and it sounds like "your typical rock voice". I am unsure whether or not the vocal style of My Darkest Days will compliment the music of Three Days Grace, but I'm definitely curious to see. He could do a very good job, but that is only for us to find out. My biggest concern is that Three Days Grace plays significantly heavier music than My Darkest Days; unless Matt (the singer of My Darkest Days) alters his voice to match Adam's style, it could be weird. From a vocalist perspective, Matt should stay true to himself. Unfortunately, because he's singing for another band, in order for him to be good, I think he should tweak his style not to match Adam, but to fit Three Days Grace's style (unless for some reason he does already).

Either way, this is a travesty to the music world. I am extremely disappointed with one of my favorite bands. This garbage tends to happen all the time. It's just a shame it had to happen to them. Oh well, I'm sure a better band will come along anyways!

Different

Different...

Left out
Lost in the crowd
Excluded
Alone
Forgotten
Commonalities of different
Never the same
Never wanting to follow the norm

Rejection
Ridicule
Lack of understanding
Harsh criticism
Follow her own ways
Usually on the outside looking in
Even in a place she should belong
A group of people with one common goal
Still left out
She leaves...

Judgement
Screw it
Call her name
Nope
Never said anything but a glare
Of course
It's a challenge
She's ready

Stand on her own
Tears flow
He shows up
The world turns around
Not complicated at all
Nothing's wrong
It's what you think
Your false pretenses
So hurtful
But she's done

Normalcy
Nonexistent
So much to say
But it can be expressed in few words

He comforts
She loves
No more sorrow
No more exclusion
Creation of understanding

The fear is gone
She's ready to conquer
She betters him
Stays by his side for eternity in gratitude
Modulate
Grow
Never to ever fall apart ever again
For being the green apple within the red ones
Wearing a smile
While the others hope for such
She continues to be herself
Different
Free spirit

Goodbye conformity
Goodbye sorrow
Following her own path
Away from normalcy
Into eternal happiness
With love contained in her heart
The most vital of feelings
She has in her grasp
Everyone else wants it

Too bad!

Impact of Social Media

After randomly getting in a mood to write scholarship applications and enter sweepstakes, I stumbled upon an essay contest to write about the impacts of social media. Although I am very guilty of using social media all the time (even in class), this is my opinion of social media. It had to be under 300 words. Too bad I found out after I submitted that it's only open to high school students. Thankfully, I at least had another use for this!

Social media is a world of madness. Although it enables you easier access to communication with friends and family, it can be very exploiting. Your privacy can be heavily violated, especially if you post inappropriate information or pictures. Employers can hold a predisposition on the most qualified candidate if they posted pictures at parties drinking or doing drugs. Rumors can be spread easily. People can take that inappropriate picture of you and shatter the clean image of someone. People can be easily offended if someone "deletes" you from their friends list. It can even disrupt you from paying attention in class and hurt your grades. Many people are now texting and talking over social media websites and posting their personal information on these websites. That consumes a lot of time where people can participate in more productive activities, such as reading a book or studying for school. People don't need or even want to know about your personal life because they have more important ambitions. It's an unhealthy addiction to stay updated on the latest gossip. It is also a major distraction from proper communication. In terms of communications, there are still people who prefer face to face communication as opposed to talking over a virtual medium. It takes away from the value of actually seeing someone. It holds some benefits, but the downfalls outweigh the advantages. People are missing out on appreciating the greater things in life and would rather sit and stare at a phone or computer all day. It's disgusting and creating a major communication barrier!
