Check Out Penguin Parkour IPhone Game

Wanna see cute little penguins jumping over walls? If you think penguins are as adorable as they appear and like playing games on your phone when you have free time or a long commute, you should check out Penguin Parkour! It's in the app store already and a LOT of time and effort was put into making this game... it even looks like it was professionally made at a major gaming company!

Here's the website for the game: http://krisakers.com/home.html
Here's the link to the app store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/penguin-parkour/id624388537?ls=1&mt=8
Here's the link to a preview of the game: http://youtu.be/9VBablL4Urc

I've seen and played this game before and give it 10 stars out of 5! The graphics, the physics, the spring walls... all spot on! You can tell this game was made with a lot of heart, passion, and many many hours. Enjoy your penguin-ing!

How to Write a Cover Letter for a Poetry Contest or Submission

I've written cover letters for professional IT jobs and other corporate world-type jobs before, but since I'm trying to enter some poetry contests and submit for publication all over the place, some of these submissions have called for a cover letter. Here is a base example of what I've used for my submissions that required a cover letter:

Dear "Wherever you're submitting to",

Please consider the attached poem set entitled, "_________", containing poems "__________", for (possible inclusion in) "xxxx poetry contest or submission". I believe that my poetry would strongly appeal to the readership of "wherever you'd be getting published". I am currently the sole contributor to a blog, dbzmaron.blogspot.com. I have also been published in online mediums, such as thoughtcatalog.com and the Illinois State University Technology Department's blog, isutech.wordpress.com/ (--> *Insert your writing credentials here*).

I confirm that this manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal. Please address all correspondence to: "Insert Address Here" or "Insert Email Address Here". Thank you an advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Kindest Regards,
*Your Name*

Progression of Finding the Ideal

If you are in search for your ideal lifestyle while struggling to grow up and accept adulthood, give this a read. It should give you some insight on what that feels like... Enjoy!

Do you ever have those people in your life
That you want to just toss in the trash?
Like the feeling you get when you just break down
And you have a sudden urge to play around anything your mind can get its hands on?
Sometimes the pain rubs off easily,
But other times the shoe may get a little worn…

How can HUMANS be so TOXIC? Like sludge...
Spreading poison to others,
Calling each other names,
Hurting one another…
Slandering one while the other's blind...
Is such a crime
Like sharing slime
Which creates drama
And divulges the somber slobber that's just going to clobber us…

Selfishness is a common theme
As the evil creates their team
And justice dissipates as we sing in search for light
While one anticipates a masquerade that's never going to happen because it's all a fantastic lie...
That so many people are flakes
Lacking any color in the way that snow does...
And the rest being creeps, jerks, or users, acting as woes...
While being hopeless about the general population…
Saying that no one is perfect
While we all define how unreliable we truly are
Even when we truly aren't as reliable as we really think we are
Because we wish to put our own needs first
And ignore the desires of others
Because selfishness reigns
And no one is kind to a single soul anymore unless you find a lucky penny on the ground…

All you wish for is a utopia
Where kindness reigns
And you possibly see a unicorn somewhere in there…
And selfishness is frowned upon…
But such is not possible…
However…
We must avoid all negative emotions and inject ourselves with positivity
Not some high-strung craziness
Because that will always break the cycle of doom
And no longer running aimlessly around a room…
You will always be searching for answers…
But NEVER BE AFRAID TO BE INQUISITIVE IN SEARCH FOR YOUR DREAMS!!!
Asking questions is a must in order to climb upon the clouds!
Those who try to make you trip you must stick your foot out and let them fall…
When someone tries to blow your cover
You deny it and know you're on top of them if they try to play the fool on you…
Because you aren't the fool unless your let yourself be the fool…
Just let music overtake your soul and nature pierce through your consciousness
That's all you need!
Stop overthinking things and start living
That's all you need to do.
Now DO IT!

Epic Chinese Buffet Adventures

So... a bunch of my friends have kept telling me that I should do standup. I have no problem in front of any sort of crowd, but I figured the best way I can portray being funny is a mashup between spoken word poetry and my crazy nerdy randomness. This story is derived from my two friends and I just randomly being in the mood to drive to a Chinese buffet one day and we eventually got there and indulged in Asian food and sushi goodness, so enjoy our crazy epic adventures!

So just imagine you and three of your closest friends sitting in a room
You know, just on any old Saturday night in the middle of a wintery March…
Sitting on a couch, playing some smash, chilling out, having a good time, ambient music, good vibes…
Everyone is in touch with nature in some way, shape or form…
Some in the form of delirium, others in the form of sleeplessness, and others in the form of full blown consciousness…

WHAT!?!?

Like… being fully conscious,
Is that something that's SUPPOSED TO BLOW YOUR MIND OR SOMETHING?

DUH!
Like… What ever happened
To just being able to walk on the street
On any other Saturday night
And not seeing obnoxious drunk people just meandering down the streets…

Some are minding their own business
Other are tuned out into their own little alien world of theirs
There are even some crazy enough to walk down the streets and call you a whore and call you out and judge you just for being yourself…

WHAT!?!?!

Am I BLOWING YOUR MIND or something?

We just need to be fine-tuned to ourselves and not be strapped into some false sense of reality that we humans call distortion, but society calls it fucking up…
Meanwhile, we're all just trying to find ourselves in a place we call earth when the only perception of reality that we have is through our own eyes that started in the eyes of creation…

People need to act all professional, but what even is professional?
It seems to be a fine line between insanity and jaded with a touch of ginger, unless you know how to make a tunnel underground and run fast like Sonic the Hedgehog to barely escape trouble…
It seems like everyone just comes in every day… and while some seem to have a clear goal in mind, others just seem to be clunking around, yet they've been at the working place for years on end…
You wonder how they got to that position in life and you set yourself out to determine whether or not you truly want that to be your fate…
But as you grow up, you gradually know how to string your fate together in to exactly everything you want in such an intricate way…
Everyone just walks around so gingerly, passing each other in the halls, just all that smalltalk, and maybe that "asking for a cup of coffee" to see how the other one is doing and how they continue to bask in their success every day…
You just walk along on your own merry way and take their tips and have a nice day because you know where success is and need to find it your own way…

WHAT?!?!?

Does SUCCESS BLOW YOUR MIND or something?

To top it off, if you want to bask in some success…
Then imagine a guy and two girls driving along in a salsa red soccer mom car
In a little secret town that feels like just another college town
And it's just a transgender guy, a white girl, and a big white guy just roaming around, in search for the Buffet that is oh so sacred to us at that point in time
And we eventually get there after having to turn around like 6 times because we were derping around and just passed it…

WHOOPS…

SO we eventually end up getting there at some point about fifteen minutes later all safe and sound, just like we beat the secret Mario level…
Oh yeah, that's right….
We SERIOUSLY saw Mario when we were driving along, NO JOKE…
But it was just another one of them crazy business ploys to attract more customers into their store…
Enough getting sidetracked…
My parents may think this is Mexican town or the ghetto
But really,
It's just another little hole in the wall that no one knows about
It's perfectly safe, I promise
I'd never do anything wrong
Just leave me alone and let me be…
But I digress…
Let's go eat some Chinese food!
And enjoy this sunny day!

Healthy Egg Salad Recipe

Healthy egg salad recipe:

3 hard boiled eggs
1/3 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt
5 tbsp yellow mustard
3 shakes chili powder
5 shakes freeze dried chives
5 shakes onion powder
3 shakes dill seed
Salt and Pepper to taste

Optional: 1 tsp sun dried tomatoes, 1 avocado

Put everything in a bowl, mash the hard boiled eggs, stir, and enjoy! I added a spinach and kale mix in my bowl. Use more or less mustard as you please. I sometimes an add avocado to this and usually eat it on a bagel thin with a handful of spinach on it. I randomly decided to add sun dried tomatoes to this because I was in an experimental mood when creating this deliciousness! Enjoy!

The Destruction of Bitterness

Many people become jaded, but in all honesty, I think being jaded is just a huge trap because you're stuck in a circle of hating everyone and everything instead of seeing every moment as an opportunity and being optimistic. Here's what I think about people becoming jaded:

All faith shall be restored...
In an unwinding path towards life discovery,
That possesses elements of nature and the unknown,
A wonky airplane struggles to move at the speed of sound while struggling to sustain the skies…

Life admonishes you to continue onward and never give up
But there’s a blatant point where you’re yearning to dismiss faith and succumb to society
Or when you envision your dismay that’s attributed to the bitter ignorance of others…

Everyone wants to live
Everyone craves love
We all wish to forgive humanity’s flakes
But there comes a point where you can no longer grant a pardon…

With that, bitterness begins to take shape…
The struggle begins to fight becoming jaded and allow positivity to prevail…

What you NEED to do is drive your own bus before you miss a pivotal opportunity to pride yourself
By yourself…
For yourself…

Blow away the dark clouds that manifest your mind
Because in time,
The pain will dissipate
Negativity will vanish
Success will reign…

While the mind is level and achieves its fullest potential,
The heart is elevated
The brain is soulful
The aura is vibrant
And bitter turns to a taste more powerful than chocolate!

Turn bitter into sweet
Sweep away the dust clouds
Wipe away the tainted water from within
And glide along life’s colorful pathways
While changing the channel from bitter to bright!

How to Trim Your Straight Across Bangs

Note that I am NOT a hair stylist. I just like to experiment in that realm. This was the second time I had tried trimming my bangs and the first time I cut them way too short. Here is how to properly trim your bangs to make them look pretty vs how to jack them up (with me adding some funny to the mix):

How NOT to trim your bangs:

First, go into the bathroom. Grab the smallest scissors you can find within the bathroom. If there isn't one in the bathroom, run downstairs aimlessly to find one. Then make sure you're in the bathroom with the scissors. Start cutting your bangs in a half-crescent shape (not a huge crescent though, but enough to have a bit of a curve), but meanwhile, there's nowhere in your hair you can draw a line unless you have colored hair spray (which can of course be washed out). It turns into you aimlessly trying to cut a decent shape out of thin air and it looks kind of wonky until you determine it to be "good enough". No one else can tell, but in your head you're like "argh these look weird", but go along with it realizing that your hair will grow back soon and know that your job doesn't care what your bangs look like anyways!

How to properly trim your bangs

For real, this is how I did it and it turned out perfectly actually. It's not as difficult as you would imagine (and I am the one who overcomplicates EVERYTHING). Grab a small hairtie and tire your bangs downward in the middle of your face. Grab a scissors again (preferably one that's sharp) and go to the bathroom. Only have a little bit of hair hanging from the bottom and cut that in a straight line. Fix edges as needed. Keep repeating that process until you reach the desired length with your bangs. The reason why I decided to do this in the first place is that I want to leave my bangs straight across and the hair place I usually go to is way farther away now because I moved out of my parent's house) and I don't feel like making the drive with this horrible snow. You should try this. It really does work, I promise!

Anime Luvers is Coming Back!

A long long time ago back when my anime websites were active, my main site was animeluvers.com, which was rather popular. As soon as the server crashed, I stopped maintaining the website, but held onto all of my content (which is housed on my current laptop). I am going to start putting all of that on a new blog that I will be using, maronsanime.blogspot.com (animeluvers was taken). As soon as I get the domain back up again, I will transfer the content over there, but for now, everything will be housed on that blog. Of course, I'm going to edit everything because I wrote the content when I was way younger. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the anime awesomeness that I shall be posting!

Open Mic Nite Performance Of "Don't Get a Game Over"

I went to the Heartland Cafe again in Rogers Park, Chicago and performed "Don't Get a Game Over" on 2-27-14! It's basically about how I feel having had plenty of apartment issues, as well as advocating that no one deserves to be homeless or live in confinement (except crazy criminals)!

For the exact words of the poem, go to - http://dbzmaron.blogspot.com/2014/02/dont-get-game-over.html

Pardon my lack of memorization. Enjoy!
