Why Me?

Sometimes I wonder “why me”?

My friends often tell me “I’m always going through something”,
Especially compared to their other friends…
This is sadly true.
My life is very eventful.

I feel like life is like a game of Pokemon.
You battle the first boss, you think you beat the game, and bam, another boss level appears.
But before you even get to the boss level, there’s monsters all around you needing to be defeated.

When you finally get to the boss level, you need to unleash all your power.
If your arsenal fails, you can keep powering up until you’re strong enough to complete the final mission.

In many video games, you can select easy, medium, or hard mode.

On social media, I see everyone’s picture perfect life and at their best selves only;
Their life is on easy mode.

For my adventures, I feel like trying to accomplish your dreams is like being in the boss level where the enemy grows rapidly after each attack and it feels like there’s no hope; My life feels like the hard mode button is stuck and won’t turn off…

I wish for my life to be easier, but maybe there’s an underlying reason why everything feels turbulent all the time.
But beating a boss level usually results in a major reward at the end.

Boss levels are difficult, but not impossible.

Once you finally beat the game on hard mode, after lots of perseverance and sometimes a zillion tries, instead of wondering “why me?”, I shift my perspective to “why not me?”

So why not me?

Overcome Your Past

Dear Beautiful Universe,

It is time to get over yourself. The past is the past for a reason and needs to stay behind. But that means letting go.

When you feel like you’re stuck and hit a life junction, you may wonder what is holding you back. Some of the time, it can be triggered by a negative experience that happened long ago. But memories don’t leave…

The negative experiences all happened for a reason. You can’t let them rule you. Instead, you must use them as tools and lessons to be able to move onto new adventures. That means telling yourself it’s ok the negative event happened and analyzing the cause and effect of the event. After several positive experiences to counteract the negative experience, it is safe to say the negative experience is unlikely to occur again and you can retrain yourself to accept the positive experiences. This will help lead you to the ultimate gift of happiness, as long as you take your own advice!

Love,
Rebs

False Promises

Don't give me false promises.
The ones where you say you will pay me back and you don't.
The ones where you say you will help me and you refuse when the time comes...
The ones where you say you will be there for me and you run away when the time comes...

You tell me how real you're trying to be and it turns out you're fake.
You are exactly who I don't want to be in my life.
You are the one who wants everyone to like you by forcing inspiration instead of being genuine.
The one who needs support from someone else in order to be alive,
And the one who will only take someone else's hand and both shove me aside...

I don't need to depend on anyone for my self worth.
I can stand strong on my own.

Be free from those false promises.
Do my own thing and believe in my own power.
I am strong enough!

Quarter Life Crisis: Reflections and Realizations From Being In Your Twenties

When you reach a certain point in your life, you end up reflecting and wondering where you are and where you want to go. If you think everything is crappy and feel like you're going nowhere, chances are it's not true. If you have independence, income, talents, drive, and a support system, you're doing a lot better than you think. If you have a college degree, you're definitely doing better than you think. If you're young, you don't have to have all your shit together. If you feel like other people who are younger than you are finding success faster than you, you have to realize how different their life and journey are than yours. It’s impossible to replicate someone else’s situation and need to accept your own circumstances. As long as you’re making and recognizing forward progress, you’re on the path to success. Everyone finds themselves, lands ideal opportunities, and realizes their dreams at a different pace. It’s ok if your success comes a little bit later than someone else. Just make sure to keep trying, keep adventuring, and continue being willing to accept a possible chance of failure. At times, you may feel lost and have no idea which direction to proceed in at the crossroad. It's ok to question where you are. It's ok to question your faith and where to place it, especially if your parents forced religion down your throat. It's ok to be uncertain of where you want your career path to go. It's ok to fail and fall on your ass as long as you maintain an awareness and refuse to give up. And it's definitely ok to be single and focus on yourself. If you want to change the world and have an idea of how to do it, keep believing in your idea and working on your idea and it will come to life. Patience and resilience are the answer. But be careful, because even superheroes have limits! Just don't be afraid to live and use your heart and intuition as your guide! Make sure you share the love, too!

Lots and Lots of Inspirational Quotes by Rebecca Duxler

All quotes written by yours truly (me)!

Defeat is never an option if you want to reach the sky!

Light even exists in the dark!

This is not the beginning or the end, but the start of a revolution!

Even shooting stars have jagged pathways...

When you travel over rugged roads wondering if you're going to make it through in one piece, you do and realize rugged roads don't last forever!

Sometimes, you don't have to look any farther than in front of you...

You can always find rainbows among the immense darkness; it is possible to see light through terrible tragedy

Sometimes, all it takes is telling yourself you'll be just fine because all it takes is time

How to upset the nicest person in the world: call their friends stupid

Your heart will tell you the proper path to pick. You may look behind with wonder, but realize the light and freedom are ahead

The light may be on the other side, but it's still right in front of you

Lights illuminate the seemingly dark great beyond. Something is always shining

Sticks and stones may break your bones, words may break your soul, but the only way to win the fight is to take a stand and keep standing

Let go of bitterness in order to find forgiveness

When one door closes, another one opens. A new beginning is near. Go make it feel dear without fear!

If being scared isn't a positive driving force, you're in the wrong place; if fear is your driving force, you're also in the wrong place. Listen to your heart; your animalistic instincts never lie!

Listen to your heart. Your heart is your guide; it never lies!

Today I will vow to make love the wealthiest of all my entities, because without love, meaning ceases to exist while money and power are worthless. The heart needs to be my central core at all costs!

Shoot for the stars, even when you feel like you’re falling…

Failure represents the strengths in finding your way to the goal line!

A smile can fly for miles!

There is always light to be emerged from any darkness!

Inspire, persevere, triumph, impact the world!

If you are alive and take up space, you matter!

Smiles are contagious. Surround yourself with people to rise high with you!

It’s time to aim higher than the sun and shine today!

Knowledge is beauty. If you utilize it right, you’ll meet your people!

Sharing is caring; celebrating is more fun in crowds than alone

Transform every day, living life to the fullest, seeking growth and love

Don’t look for the light, let the light find you!

Today is always one step forward for being alive!

Today’s failure is tomorrow’s success!

It is not your job to please everyone. Even if you make an unpopular decision, as long as the decision is yours, it makes you happy, and stands by your moralized code of ethics, don’t let other’s disapproval cloud your vision!

Those who enable you to feel safe will destroy your walls!

As long as the sinking ship has a battery, it is possible to overcome the fear and push the accelerator button!

Rain from your eyes is like a storm revitalizing a city in deep drought! Dismissing that will only create an endless dark cloud needing water to restore its glow!

The finish line is the light at the end of the tunnel. Chase after it like you’re running away from a charging bull!

No matter how selfless of a person you are, in order to take care of others with your full heart, you must take care of yourself first!

If you wake up in the morning and tell yourself you’re going to win the race, your attitude shall dictate your actions!

Shield your loved ones with your heart, because you never know when you’re going to need a hand in return…

When you look into the distance and see your goals in the sky, don’t let them fly by; instead, go jump high and let yourself celebrate with pie!

A black belt is only the beginning of your journey; you are ready for the world to be bestowed upon you!

Now, it's time to grow into the person you want to be; you can do it!

If you think your life is worse than others, be thankful to be alive, able to write this message, and hardships are bestowed upon you because you can handle them!

A visionary is one who has dreams and follows them with actions!

Fly forward freely

Wake up and smell the beauty in the world

Life is like water; let it flow!

If you’re stuck in one place and know your heart is elsewhere, keep your head in the game and strategically plan your next move. Patience and perseverance are power!

They told themselves they can, and they did. They climbed up walls; they fell down some, fell again, and again, and got back up. They said to themselves they are somebody, and they shine past the sky’s gates, leaving a star in the sky to represent an imprint of light in the world!

If you want to feast in life’s delights, it’s about time you take life’s plights and plunge into the sea of awakening!

If you want to make a difference, don’t wait for someone else to tell you what you can or can’t do. The world is much larger than an enclosed space, especially if you have technology in your hands. Even if you can’t physically show your face, your heart can be seen from miles away!

I knew there was a voice trapped inside me for all these years, and validated myself when I let it out! Your voice comes from your heart; let its spirit guide you!

Let your friends be your rocks and take their hands, because life is not meant to be a solo journey when joys can be shared!

The purpose for the journey isn't solely to emerge victorious; the experiences which create wisdom to power the journey are the purpose for adventure!

Realize what those who are fighting the war are sacrificing. Be thankful you don't have to ask the skies to take a breath of fresh air after a fatal wound and praise those who cross the line who enable you to celebrate life!

When struggling to smile, do a good deed for someone or convince them they have more potential than they ever imagined. Smiles and love are contagious; sharing both will direct the cycle in your direction when you need it most!

Use love for helping or healing; you can maybe save someone's life!

Use love for helping or healing; you can maybe save someone's life!

Imagine how much one day can impact the world. If you had one day to change the world, what would you do, start a revolution towards the sun or down into the fire? But never forget those days where brave souls extinguished the fire…

Let yourself get in touch with the current moment, because every second is an experience you shall embrace!

Shield your loved ones with your heart, because you never know when you’re going to need a hand in return…

When you look into the distance and see your goals in the sky, don’t let them fly by; instead, go jump high and let yourself celebrate with pie!

Let yourself know the finish line exists; if you believe in the checkered flag, your destination will appear as a result of your resilience!

Power through your mental blockades as if you were trudging through quicksand about to fall.

If you create positivity within you, the cycle will return it in your direction!

There is always someone out there willing to take your hand!

Take advantage of the moments when you can embrace the positive auras of your surroundings!

Fear is your driver, not your shield. Let the fuel ignite the fire instead of dissipate it, no matter how large you want it to be!

Challenge yourself to create goals higher than you think you can achieve in order to reach higher mountains!

Rejection only means the opportunity wasn't right for you and not a pitfall to your doom!

To summon the upper vibes, you must embrace them and the desire to be happy!

Life's losing streaks aren't permanent because when the rabbit goes down the hole, the only way it can climb is up. With several losses in a row, will plus resilience results in a win!

The Positivity Garden Exercise of Reflection: Seeing the Stars

This ended up happening thanks to my recent serious endeavors to give my past the finger and walk away... mainly towards poor relationships (with men), being treated poorly period, my toxic relationships with my blood family, and my professional non successes.

The Positivity Garden Exercise of Reflection: Seeing the Stars - take a few minutes to write down on a piece of paper what you are... in the same way SpongeBob writes his "what I learned in boating school is" essay. I am _________ - thanks to my super awesome friend Daniel Whited for the idea :) Because in the end, you are worth it!

Emergence as a Woman - Being the Only Girl

I've been the only girl in several classes or groups and have decided to share my experiences to inspire women to follow their hearts even in male-dominatd endeavors. Enjoy!

=================================

I’ve been there several times before, especially in my late teens and twenties, but how would you feel if you walked into a classroom or activity and you were the only girl (or close)? In a world where women end up being the minority, underrepresented, or the less recognized demographic (well, if you fully identify as a female like I do), it is more common to see more men than women in most places at one time. Places such as the business world, IT, engineering, math, science, the military, football, etc., are comprised of significantly more males. Would that discourage you to do the activity if you were the only female (or male, if that happened)?

I don’t want to let being a female in a male-dominated world discourage me from following my dreams or pursuing hobbies or endeavors I’m interested in just because I’m going to be the only girl. It was a little nerve-wracking at first, not going to lie, but giving it a chance was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Currently or in the recent past, I have been in a significant (more than 80-90% male-female ratio) minority at work, the IT department at school, karate, and my swordfighting group, Belegarth (especially for combatants like myself). I also am an avid Super Smash Brothers player, Dance Dance Revolution player, metalhead, and giant nerd. I haven’t seen any super talented female Smash or DDR players (especially on Youtube), and most of the metal music concerts I’ve attended had more men than women.

For me, I see gender as still being another person with a different set of hormones, private parts, and fashion styles. From my experiences, being the only girl has led me to being accepted, blending into the environment, and being the same part of the class as a man is. Getting hit on sometimes happens too. No one really sees me as different just because I have long hair and like makeup. No one really treats me different either. Well, maybe I’ll get a phone number or two depending on the age range of whoever I’m around. Regardless, I am still seen as another person in the group or class.
In most cases, I am given the same responsibilities and participate in the same activities as men. I am not ignored in my classes, and sometimes even given a little extra attention to keep me motivated. It may feel a little weird, but after having experienced this so many times, I’m just like “oh... well ok”, and go on with my life. I’m thankful to not be segregated against for being a woman and told to go to the “girl’s only club”, which likely wouldn’t exist. Another thing I am most blessed about is despite my history of being bullied, I do not get picked on or seen as less (intelligent) than men. The only difference I’ve seen in treatment is that in contact sports, men will be respectful of lack of size and be extra polite (in general) out of chivalry’s sake. They won’t go easy on you, but won’t pound you into the ground either, especially if you’re a small person like me. In certain athletic competitions, you may get separated for your gender, but that’s normal. I would not want to spar against a man whose 6’6 and 300 pounds where I’m 5’2 and less than half of their weight… no thank you, I would not like to get hurt! I value my safety, and I’m sure you do too!

Probably the only place I’ve encountered any difficulty is in a very conservative (corporate) workplace. It may be more difficult to emerge as a woman, especially in technology, but thankfully there are women empowerment groups all over the place (inside and outside of work) to join, as well as several worldwide movements to jump on the bandwagon for. Finding a mentor always helps too (or someone to guide you). I have participated and volunteered in several women empowerment activities and I believe they help foster connections among other women; in some of these, I’ve held a mentorship or leadership role and it makes me feel like I’m able to make a difference and inspire other women to be proud to enjoy and flaunt their passions and true selves, as well as finding their greatest potentials. Who cares if you’re going to be the only girl down the road? You have a plethora of support from all over the place! Also, in the IT department in college during my senior year, I was the president of the club. When I was in the department, the director told me there were 91% males, yet I was still the face of the department. No one was like, “oh, you’re a girl”. I was very well respected and able to spread my wings without a problem, while making a difference and showing the world that women can represent themselves and be a powerful driving force in technology (or any other STEM field for that matter).

The main reason I want to discuss this is to encourage women (or those who identify as female) to not feel discouraged by their gender if they find themselves liking things “only men” should like. That would be called a stereotype. It would be like saying boys can’t like playing with dolls or girls can’t like playing with cars. Who cares if it’s a patriarchy! I am proud to be a woman and I don’t care if not many other women share the same interests as me, because they are my interests. Hopefully, women will be more inclined to show their faces in male-dominated activities, but for now, screw stereotypes and “trying to fit in”. No one has to hide just for having interests different than the norm. I like making websites. I like video games. I like contact sports and martial arts. I will continue to have the strength to be my badass self and do me! I hope other women can be aware it’s ok to be the only girl. You are not and will never be alone! There are plenty of other only girls out there. Just be you! That’s the best way to do it!

Raven Fly Free

This handy flash fiction story is about growing up and making progress in life, but you always need a little helping hand! Enjoy!

=======================

The prime time for night owls arises as now is the time to prepare for independence…

“Raven… it’s time to take flight!” The thoughts pulsate through her wings as the process of flying free is once again overthought… A crash into the wall becomes her fate…

Mission failed…

As the night of the pink nova moon takes shape, the color is blockaded by the greyness of pollution… Grey to represent the thunderous clap of the sorrowful skies as birds strive to fly freely to warmth without those blockades that cause failure and confinement…

“Raven… snap out of it…what are you doing? Get up! It’s time to take flight!”

She gazes towards the horizon with a crippling glare as giving up will never be an option. Fear is the black bird shielding the triumph that all shall wield. Raven will stop at nothing to proceed onward in the timeline! The sight of new scenery provokes the black bird to attack as perseverance is sent to Raven from the synergies of the moon. Denying and ignoring the moon will only result in a fiery black hole…

Raven graces onward as the spirits from above gravitate her towards a successful mission. Toxicity ignored, the pink nova moon prevails… The darkness and grey fade away as the brighter horizon is near.
She senses a blue song bird and gently floats towards the guiding star and the beautiful pink cookie-shaped structure.

“Raven… it’s time to take flight! Are you ready for this?” She soars into the great beyond as daylight begins to emerge. A new beginning is in sight! The light has now taken flight! Black holes shall never be in sight!

Mission complete!

Open Mic Nite Performance Of "How to Wield Your Magic Wand"

That one time that I spontaneously decide to roll into an open mic nite because my Friday night freed up, I end up getting to perform at my first intimate show at "The Elevator Sessions" at the Justin Pauly Art Studio on 8-22-14 in River North, Chicago! Performing in front of like 7 people is definitely a lot different than giving a speech in front of 150, but cheers for stepping out of your comfort zone!

The moral of the story is... to stop allowing fear hold you back and start living life how you deserve to live it!

I definitely deviated from the "original script" a decent amount, but here's what I initially wrote: http://dbzmaron.blogspot.com/2014/08/how-to-wield-your-magic-wand.html

Enjoy!

How to Wield Your Magic Wand

And the moral of the story is... to stop allowing fear hold you back and start living life how you deserve to live it! Spoken word. Totally want to perform this! Yup! Enjoy!

===============================

It was the first day of the rest of my life
No… not the first day I was born or torn or scorned or even freeking bored...
But it was that epic moment when I looked up and told myself, “hey, it’s about time that I stop letting the world run me,
Stop letting humanity control me,
Stop allowing fear to destroy me and swallow me whole,
And start being myself for once without even holding back an ounce of genuine…”

Because when you see the sun burn it's brightness toward your eyes at a nice and toasty 7am,
Do you want to spring out of your super comfy bed and be like, “ugh, this sucks”,
Or do you want to be like Spongebob who runs to his burger flipping job every single day screaming, “I’m ready, I’m ready” without being nearly as hilariously irritating as he is?

Think about it for a second…

If you want to take over the world in a non-villainous way, you better start taking action and learning how to be more successful than Pinky and the Brain, Team Rocket or Wile E. Coyote ever were… because in this story, you're the protagonist,
Not someone else... and especially not those lame "spirits" aka your own personal excuses that are erroneously manipulating you to be less than what you're truly capable of...
And causing your brightest potential to be withdrawn from right under your feet...

This is your story, now go enjoy it!

Despite their consistent failure and human-like shortcomings,
Both of which are completely inevitable, The one thing they all had in common is that they failed with pride and without fear...
Fear is the paralyzing enemy of the triumphant as it sucks you into its pit of despair while biting you with its venomous grip.
But a true success is willing to fall on their ass several times over again, and get up to continue running like it was nothing…

Do you want to win, or do you want to lose?
Now is the time to attack,
Now is the moment to live,
And the present is yours for free reign!

Now look up… yes you… look as far above as the naked eye can see… and ponder these words wisely…
When it’s your time to officially claim the top,
You don’t want to flop or drop or crash and burn and fall and fail and NOOOOO!!!
Don’t you dare think negatively,
Because those pesky sorrowful and depressing thoughts are only going to land you a nice and shiny pitch black “Game Over” screen!

It’s time to acknowledge that when you want to do big things that you’ve been destined to do your entire life,
Quit enabling fear to consume you and morph into your demise,
And instead, you’ll rise…
Rise until the angels are singing “Hallelujah", while shining a light at you and giving you a gospel tune that tells you “woohoo, you actually did it yaaaaayyy!”

You’re far better than you think you are…
And I’m dead serious when I say this!
The power is yours!
The choice is yours!
And even life… is all yours!

If you’re “that” hungry for your big break that’s far beyond what your dreams are even creating in your head right now,
Are you ready to wield your magic wand?
Do it!
The only thing stopping you is you!

Seven Magical Ways to Create Better Opportunities for Yourself

These all may sound cliché, but if you’re tired of feeling stagnant and crave progression in life, here are 7 magical and simple ways to create better opportunities for yourself:

1.       Be proactive. Opportunity doesn’t usually just come knocking on your door when you’re sitting on your butt doing nothing. The more you actively pursue opportunities to better yourself, such as attending training courses at work, attending networking events, and pursuing leadership positions, you need to drive the bus! You're in charge of your career and don't take no for an answer... meaning if someone says no to what you want, find another way to grab it if you have the drive and perseverance to do so!

2.       Be willing to step out of your comfort zone and seek endeavors that are beyond what you think you are capable of, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Try something new and take risks... even though everyone else and their entire friend circle of successful people would say. If you think you want to be the president of a club at school or the CEO of your own company, don't sell yourself short with self-doubt or think you'll suck because you've never done it before. Of course you're not going to be perfect the first or second or even third try, but trying just means you're growing and learning from mistakes!

3.       Feel comfortable asking “how can I help” to show initiative and interest. Similar to being proactive, this moreso involves finding a task, objective, or role that you have a strong desire to fulfill that someone else is doing and ask how you can help. This is especially beneficial if you're in search for further experience in an area that you want to learn about and don't know as much as you'd like to yet, as well as at a job. Who knows, maybe you can fall in love with something you never could imagine all because you offered to help someone! Also, asking to help someone is always a benefit to you (if they say yes) because it's always a learning opportunity, meaning more invaluable knowledge for you to pocket away and another category of experience for you to add to your arsenal of awesomeness!

4.       Be excited to learn from challenges that you accept… with or without reluctance. Yay learning and yay challenges! Challenges foster learning and learning fosters bettering yourself, so why not, right? So what if you fall or even fail. Get back up! You can do it!

5.       Embrace and be empowered by change. Change may be scary at first, but change also means new experiences, overcoming obstacles, and self growth and awareness. For example, magically turning from college student to adult was one of the most daunting life changes I've ever made and is probably #1 on my list, but changes like these are 500% inevitable. If you resist change, you will make yourself miserable. It's not easy and will never be easy, but if you want to better yourself, taking a risk or leap of faith in life means you're going to just have to accept change!

6.       NETWORK!!!! I can thank the Association of Information Technology Professionals for advocating this handy tip. Networking doesn't just mean dressing up in a suit to hand resumes out to potential employers, but it means trying to get your name and your word out to as many people as you can. Networking also doesn't have to be just for "professional endeavors", but can also take place when immersed in a large group while trying to meet people in a more social/laid back setting. Just think of it this way, the more people who know you and the more people you've handed your business cards to (vistaprint sells nice ones), as well as any cards you receive (or contact info that you exchange), the more people that can possibly meet to help you find where you belong or even give you a recommendation to help you land your next big gig or job!

7.       Stay positive and never give up when the going gets tough... If the timing isn’t right for something, don't worry about it too much. If you're young like me, realize that even though life is short, you have plenty of time to make awesomeness happen. When people tell you that everything happens for a reason, it's absolutely true! Rejection also happens... a lot more than you think. The chances of you getting accepted to everything you apply for are slim to none (unless you're super duper lucky). Don't let rejection bring you down or make you quit. The stories you hear of people triumphing after being homeless, getting tons of sorry letters, getting cut from the team several times, etc. are absolutely true! Rejection means to either keep working towards what you want or that there's a better opportunity that's waiting for you and you'll find it in due time! Giving up just means you're never going to see accomplishment... and trust me, the gratification from the "yes" answer you've been craving is worth the wait!

Accessories

This is a spoken word version of how it would feel to be used, as well as how people shouldn't be used and treated as objects. If that ever happens to you, you're better than that! Stand up for yourself and show whoever is mistreating you that you are worthy of better, don't deserve to be taken advantage of, and they are not worthy of being a part of your life. Enjoy!

Accessories…
When you think of an accessory, you generally associate it with being an object that you wear or random extra useful programs that you’d find on your computer…

Think again…

If you want to refer to a person as “being something”, you’d usually describe them as nice, kind, happy, pretty, shy, sweet, introverted, extroverted, whatever…
Accessories are supposed to be nice, just like how people are at least supposed to be…
They can be used, abused, worn out, and thrown away…
Or used until broken kind of like how you want to hold onto your car until it’s been driven into the ground and won’t even function anymore…

Now imagine a wallet…
Yes, it’s where people store their money, credit cards, and whatever else
You can get a fancy wallet or a cheap wallet, hold it in your purse or pocket, and run along with life as usual.

Just think about it for a second…

Take all these definitions of items you hold onto for daily use and apply that definition onto people…

People are used like a machine…
They work from sunrise to sunset for the pleasure of others to expect and receive little or nothing in return…
And when that does happen,
They don’t fully realize the extent of how poorly they’re being treated
Because the people on the using end look at the situation in terms of “how can I benefit from this person?”
You can’t just put a price tag on people and expect them to do all your nonsensical tasks for you and expect them to be fully productive after a certain point,
Because people have a limit of how much they’re willing to endure and once that line has been jumped over and stomped on a bunch of times, they end up saying “screw this” and just vanish…

People are used like a wallet…
If you take a highly successful individual and pair them off with a bunch of people who have nothing at all in their lives,
Those who have nothing will feed off their prey like a hungry shark who’s starving for its dinner, bite, and leave when there’s nothing left… and just suck all of your money away because they are miserable and have NOTHING for themselves and think it’s ok to be some kind of a leech to people…
And you give it to them because you want to do whatever you can to help the person get back on their feet, be happy, and share the same fun that you have with some hope of them at least being somewhat appreciative…
But meanwhile, it’s just an expense to you and costing you money
Just to have a friend who only sees you as a body and a wallet and nothing more…

Friends should be an ASSET… NOT an EXPENSE!

The lonesome warrior will either let it happen and sulk in the pain and misery or take a moment to realize that they are more worthy than being someone else’s dinner and vanish…

Because being used like an accessory hurts… it’s PAINFUL… it’s HORRIBLE… it’s an infliction of sheer hell, and treating the virtue of kindness as if someone just took a shit in your face…
So why do we even try to break people like how a three year-old rips the head off of a Barbie doll?
Because people are a bunch of selfish assholes who are only in it for themselves and don’t care about the implications of the situation on others…

Well, what do we do?

We need to unite and become stronger and find the right fish in the sea instead of letting ourselves take years and years of vicious pain and not do anything to change the situation in order to grow and better ourselves!
We need to break the cycle of improper use and realize that we aren’t a toy, machine, or wallet, we’re DEFINITELY NOT an accessory, and realize that we are BETTER than that!
We are STRONGER than that!
We are more POWERFUL than that!

What are you waiting for?
Stand up for yourself!
Speak out loud and have your voice heard!
It’s the only way to win the battle!

Teachings and Lessons from Death

I wrote this post in reaction to my best childhood friend who passed away on May 25, 2013. He was my biggest inspiration and the foundation for the rest of my life. I had never lost anyone close to me and these are my opinions on how one should properly cope with the gravity of a hefty loss...

I know that dying is a part of life, but the true mystery is that you never know when it's going to happen. There are many different ways that people perceive Death, but this is the best way to handle it:

Up until now, during my 22 short years of living, I had never had any real encounters with Death before. I never lost anyone super close to me. I have lost people who lived on my dorm floors and talked to occasionally, had a couple classes with, a couple family members that I wasn't too close with, and even someone in one of my turnabout groups. I even went to a wake for a good friend whose infant son passed away. But never had I lost anyone close to me before. I'd rather learn now than later. It will teach me and provide me with another one of life's experiences.

On May 25, 2013 I lost my childhood best friend who helped me to initially choose my life's path. We got into an argument when I was in high school and things weren't ever the same. I feel like it's a common phenomenon to realize how important someone truly is to you when they're gone. People always have that feeling of "I wish I could have said goodbye" or "I wish I could have told them how I feel" or "I wish I could have rekindled our friendship". Unfortunately, you can't. There are most certainly healthy ways to cope with a heavy loss and optimistic ways to continue to live and love your life.

When someone passes, they may be buried in the ground or have his or her ashes scattered about, but the spirit and legacy will always live on. You can always do something in the person's honor, such as dedicating some kind of personal memorial to them. For example, a school can dedicate a track meet to someone who was active on the track team or the ones who were closest can get a personalized tattoo to remember the loved one or very close friend. Most importantly, even though someone "being there in spirit" isn't the same, it is a healthy way to hold the passed person in your heart forever. Saying a prayer isn't a bad idea either. Mourn the passed person and celebrate their life. It will lighten the mood from the waterfall of tears and room full of sadness.

Your family and friends will be there for you. Alcohol and drugs are not the answer. Those will dilute your problem for a short amount of time and eventually cause your life to spiral out of control. If need be, there is always grief counseling available. One thing to also do is write a lovely letter in remembrance about the person and read it at the funeral. Cry your eyes out and call your best friend to console you and you will feel more at ease.

Death is inevitable and is just another part of the life cycle. Although it's the most terrible thing and it's even worse when the person is young, but it happens and you need to move on from it. You will never forget the person and you can always say hello at the cemetery. Just realize that the person is in a better place and although you can never touch or hear them, but you can feel and sense them.  Most importantly, don't dwell on the past. Take your mistakes and lessons and learn from them for the future. If you messed up or did something you shouldn't have to the person, don't regret it. That will make you more miserable later. Just move on and keep living. That's all you can do. Don't get stuck in a black hole. Move forward. The person will always want the best for you and would be happiest if you lived your life to the fullest.

Don't be afraid you're going to die and keep thinking about Death. You should live your life like you're going to die tomorrow and accomplish as much as you can. Life is short, but live on the edge and don't hold back. Don't let fear consume you. Live in the present and don't take things for granted, especially life. Life is the most precious thing one can have. Take advantage of the world. The world is your canvas. Paint as much as you can upon it and people will see it and become your happy followers and driving force. Take on the world with a smile. Happiness and love are driving forces. Display love to everyone, because who knows, they may one day be gone forever and there is nothing you can do. Believe what you want. Do what you want. Fight adversity and don't be afraid to be the odd one. Just enjoy yourself. Be free. It's better to know that you die happy and fulfilled than miserable and empty! Celebrate life always! Treasure the wonderful gift of life and you will be able to continue marching onward from the tragedy and sorrow. That way, it's never game over for you!
